The Executable Transition Framework maps each of its eight components to a distinct, peer-reviewed mechanism: identity reconstruction (Brewer, Van Raalte & Linder, 1993), values clarification (Sheldon & Elliot, 1999; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), implementation intentions and social commitment (Gollwitzer, 1999; Gollwitzer & Sheeran, 2006), habit formation through context-pairing (Wood & Neal, 2016), neurochemical recalibration (Volkow et al., 2019; Bloomfield et al., 2023), and community-driven identity reinforcement (Shen et al., 2025).
Implemented in sequence inside the 90-day cycle, the framework targets every documented risk domain for the post-career transition simultaneously — rather than treating identity, relational, neurochemical, and behavioral symptoms in isolation. The result: athletes who complete a cycle restore daily structure, rebuild social infrastructure, and re-anchor identity on the permanent foundation their competitive career already built, instead of trying to reconstruct from scratch under conditions the literature has repeatedly shown produce depression, anxiety, and functional paralysis.
First-cohort outcomes are tracked on a standardized battery: the Athletic Identity Measurement Scale (AIMS), PHQ-9 (depression), GAD-7 (anxiety), and the framework's own weekly instruments — the Dashboard's Core Wellbeing /60, The Six™ Alignment /30, and Core Code Congruence /10. Baseline captures at enrollment; follow-ups at each 90-day Cycle boundary plus a 12-month retention check.
Athletes completing one full 90-day Cycle exit with a replacement operating system in place — identity, values, relationships, daily structure, and execution cadence — rather than a set of coping strategies. That is the signal being measured. Aggregated N, effect sizes, and study-level reporting publish here as sample size supports them and as practitioners contribute deidentified data.
